Kyogo Furuhashi signs new Celtic deal | OneFootball

Celtic have announced that Japanese striker Kyogo Furuhashi has committed his long-term future to the club following a spectacular campaign last season.

The 28-year-old has signed a new four-year contract with the Hoops, keeping him at Celtic Park until at least 2027.

The new deal comes just two years into the initial terms he agreed to when he joined the Scottish champions from Japanese club Vissel Kobe in 2021.

Furuhashi spearheaded Celtic’s astonishing campaign, notching 34 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions to help them win the Scottish Premiership title, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.

Furuhashi recorded the highest conversion rate in the Scottish Premiership during the treble-winning season (31%). He was also voted PFA Scotland and SFWA Player of the Year.

The Japan international striker was a prominent part of Celtic’s treble-winning squad and will look forward to more success with the Scottish giants, starting by helping the club defend their titles next season.

“I am very happy to extend my stay for four years at this incredible club,” Furuhashi said after penning his new contract. “It is an honour to represent Celtic Football Club and our amazing supporters.

“Last season was unbelievable. From the start of the campaign, our aim was to do as well as we could in every competition we played in. Next season our objective is the same – to bring success to our club.

“I am looking forward to getting started and working with Brendan [Rodgers]. He is a top-level manager, he knows the club and knows what it takes to win silverware here. My teammates and I are looking forward to working with him.”

Rodgers, who recently returned to Celtic to replace Postecoglou after three years in the Premier League, also expressed his delight at retaining the services of the Japanese striker.

“It is brilliant news for the club,” Rodgers added. “Kyogo is an important player for us, so I am delighted he has signed a new contract.

“I am looking forward to working with him and helping him and the wider team develop to help drive the club forward.”
