Lively down the right-hand side with persistent overlapping runs and link-up play with fellow teammates high up the pitch.

Another resilient performance from the young Japanese centre-half who not only maintained his composure at the back but also played his part in the build-up of Mooy’s second in the closing minutes of the match.

Carl Starfelt: 7.5

Was hardly troubled by the opponents as he did his best to play it out from the back alongside Kobayashi. Made way for Bosun Lawal in the closing minutes.

Alexandro Bernabei: 8

Relentless down the left with his marauding runs, crosses, cut insides and passes into the final third. Created an array of chances for the Hoops, and therefore, cemented his place amid Greg Taylor’s injury absence.

Commanded the midfield game with little pressure from the visitors. Pulled the strings from his deep-lying role, and also used the space in front of him to operate in the advanced areas. Was replaced by debutant Tomoki Iwata at half-time.

A good half of football for the winter recruit who holds all the traits to continue as the understudy to McGregor.
