Kylian Mbappé has revealed that he held brief talks with Liverpool on two different occasions because they are his mum’s favourite club.
The 23-year-old instead decided to sign for PSG from Monaco in 2017 for an eye-watering €180m (£153m) fee.
Over the weekend, it was announced that Mbappé would stay at PSG, signing a contract until 2025 though the club have reportedly paid the World Cup winner a stunning €150m (£127.5) ‘signing-on’ fee to remain in Paris.
Though it was believed to be a two-horse race for his signature, Mbappé discussed his involvement with the Reds brass.
“We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit,” Mbappé told Jason Burt of the Telegraph.
“”I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favorite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!
“It’s a good club, and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco, I met them. It’s a big club.”
Mbappé ‘s reported mega-deal will see him earn a staggering £34m per season, which works out to roughly £650,000-per-week.
