Kylian Mbappé would be ‘open’ to joining Liverpool, according to a journalist close to the World Cup winner.
Mbappé has been clear on his ambition to one day play for Real Madrid, admitting recently that Zinedine Zidane was his “idol” and that Cristiano Ronaldo’s career was “one I would love to emulate”.
A report in AS last week revealed that Los Blancos’ hierarchy were looking for Mbappé to follow the ‘Eden Hazard roadmap’ by going public and waiting until the final year of his contract before signing for the Santiago Bernabéu giants.
But Julien Laurens, who works for ESPN and the BBC amongst others, has claimed that the record-breaking striker would be interested in joining Jürgen Klopp’s side, were they and Paris Saint-Germain to agree a deal.
“It’s pretty simple. If Liverpool can pay the £253m, or £295m with bonuses and put that on the table – that is what PSG will ask anyone to sign Mbappe,” he told ESPN.
“If Liverpool can afford that, plus give him the wages that he wants, he will consider that offer every day of the week.
“Yes, Real Madrid is his dream and one day there is a certainty that he will play at the Bernabéu.
“But he’s only 21 so there’s plenty of time for him to go and play in Madrid one day.
“The fact is that he also would like to play in the Premier League one day too.
“Liverpool is a very attractive proposition for any top player in the world right now with what they are putting together and the project of Jurgen Klopp.
“But again, if they can’t put that money down on the table for an offer, there’s no way he could go there.”
Mbappé has been in sensational form this season, netting 21 goals in 24 games for the Ligue 1 leaders.
