Speaking to Canal+ after his team’s 3-2 win over Leipzig tonight, Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé underlined the difficulty posed by tonight’s opponents, pointing out that his team’s performances had positives and negatives to take from it.

His words transcribed in L’Équipe, the France striker also commented on the penalty situation in the game, as Lionel Messi scored PSG’s first this evening to equalise before Mbappé missed a second at the end of the game.

“Every game is difficult in the Champions League. We’re at home and in front of our supporters, we’ve won and we’re top of the group, that’s what counts. We didn’t have a bad game either, I think there were some good aspects, others not as much maybe but when you’re up against good teams there are always things that don’t go as well. I wouldn’t say we were lucky, no. You create your own luck, there’s no such thing in this kind of game.”

“We had passages where we were sat in their half, where we managed to combine and be dangerous, we cause them problems. We might have had weak points that were a bit too weak but I don’t think we were lucky.”

“[On the penalties] It’s normal [that I left Messi take the first], it’s about respect. He’s the best player in the world, it’s a privilege that he plays with us, I’ve always said it. If there’s a penalty, he’s the one that takes it, full stop. On the second one, he told me, “take it”, it was at the end, he gave it to me and I took it.”
