Former PSG striker Pedro Pauleta considers Kylian Mbappé (24) to be the best player in the world, as he stated in an interview with L’Équipe. The Portuguese forward is PSG’s fifth all-time goalscorer with 109 strikes. His tally has been beaten since by the four most prolific strikers of the QSI ownership of PSG, namely Neymar (118), Zlatan Ibrahimović (156), Edinson Cavani and Mbappé (200). The France international levelled with the Uruguayan following his stunning brace at the Vélodrome during Le Classique on Sunday. And, according to Pauleta, the sky is the limit for the Paris-born 24-year-old. “We’re witnessing a phenomenon that will make his mark on history. He is the best player in the world today.”
Pauleta, one of Portugal’s greatest forwards with 47 international goals, is notably impressed by Mbappé’s physical and mental strength as well as his speed. “The Azores Eagle”, as he was nicknamed in France, assesses that Mbappé has everything to succeed like Zinédine Zidane, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo have done before him. “Kylian can break all records and follow the same path as Messi or Ronaldo, that’s for sure. He truly is phenomenal.”
