Manchester City defender Kyle Walker is ‘very happy‘ to continue at AC Milan after joining the Serie A giants on loan in January, Calciomercato reports.

Walker’s Milan switch has proven to be more than just a stop-gap solution, with England international now open to a permanent move in the summer.

City pocketed an initial €1 million (£834,000) from Walker’s loan switch, but Milan have an option to sign him permanently for an additional €5m (£4.1m).

Walker has spent nearly a decade on City’s books, but couldn’t pass on the opportunity for a fresh experience abroad and has taken to life in Italy like duck to water.

At one point, he was considered the best right-back in the Premier League.

He won 11 trophies with the reigning Premier League champions, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

He was also a key part of Man City’s history-making 2022/23 squad that won the treble.

The Englishman is now a shadow of his former self, which is no surprise considering he’s firmly in the twilight of an illustrious career.

However, Milan are said to be huge fans of his work and head coach Sergio Conceicao is personally pushing for the Serie A giants to make his stay permanent.

Walker has featured nine times for Milan this season and has started in five of his six Serie A appearances.

He has helped to keep a clean sheet while winning 67% of his ground duels and 83% of his aerial battles.

He’s also averaging 2.3 tackles, 4.5 ball recoveries, and two clearances per 90 minutes.

Walker currently takes home €2.5m (£2m), but a permanent summer switch could see his wages rise to around €4.5m (£3.7m) per year.
