The Kenya Women’s Premier League is back four Round 11. After a nearly two-month-long pause in the season, teams from Zone A and B took to the pitch this past weekend.
Mathare United Women suffered their ninth defeat of the season after a 6-1 loss at home to Ulinzi Starlets on Saturday. Lucy Mukhwana scored four goals for the Starlets, including the fastest KWPL hat-trick (21 minutes). Siliya Rasoha and Emily Egesa rounded out the scoring for the visitors, while Gladeeys Akothee found the back of the net for the home side.
Zetech Sparks took home advantage to heart as they defeated Kayole Starlets 5-2 at Ruiru Grounds. Elizabeth Wanyonyi netted a hat-trick as Winnie Gwatenda and Agen Alukwe scored a goal each. Zetech now sit fourth in the Zone A standings.
At the Stima Grounds, Thika Queens won 4-1 against Makolanders Ladies. The Queens continued their dominant league form. They now sit at the top of the Zone A table with a nine-point cushion.
In Zone B, title-holders Vihiga Queens also secured three points in Round 11. However, they did so in usual circumstances. Their opponents, Eldoret Falcons, failed to field a team.
