Napoli insist they’ve taken positive steps towards Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract extension, but several sources in Italy claim the Georgia star rejected an opening offer from the Partenopei.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and director Giovanni Manna flew to Düsseldorf on Thursday to meet Kvara and his agent and make a big contract offer to persuade the Georgian winger to stay at the club.

However, both Sky Sport Italia and Il Corriere dello Sport report that Kvara and his entourage rejected the proposal, telling Napoli that negotiations would continue after the Euros.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have offered a new €5m-a-year contract, including add-ons until 2029. The winger’s salary would increase through the next seasons and exceed €7m in the final years of the agreement.

Napoli insist the meeting with Kvara and his agents was positive and both Sky and Corriere dello Sport confirm the environment during Thursday’s talks was ‘relaxed’.

At the same time, however, the Georgian ace hasn’t yet agreed to stay at the Stadio Maradona.

PSG are interested in Kvara and ADL has recently blamed Nasser Al-Khelaifi for contacting the player without Napoli’s consent. Both De Laurentiis and Conte have insisted that Kvaratskhelia won’t leave the club this summer, having a contract valid until June 2027.
