KV Mechelen welcome Antwerp on Friday night on the 120th anniversary of the founding of the club. In the past weeks the club has produced retro shirts and pictures to celebrate the sides history. The side have been decimated by injuries this season but will hope to put those to one side and give the fans something to cheer for on such a historic night.
Mechelen have been good at home and were unlucky to lose 2-1 last weekend to Club Brugge late on. They are without the likes of Daam Foulon and Nikola Storm, two key players for the side this season. However, in Benito Raman they have the leagues in form striker. Raman has scored an impressive four goals in his last four games in all competitions. Despite this, the striker is operating from the bench as Besnik Hasi uses the 30-year-old as an impact sub.
Antwerp are without their main striker with Vincent Janssen suspended. The side have only won one of their last five games including a surprising home loss to Charleroi. If they have any aspirations of remaining in the top six come the end of the season, they will need to start turning things around.
Mechelen were the victors in the first meeting between the sides this season. Back in August, Hasi’s men won 1-0 thanks to a goal just before half-time from Bas van den Eynden.
