Dejan Kulusevski admits he can’t wait to use the current break in the season to work on improving his game.

A January loan arrival from Juventus, Dejan has enjoyed a special first 10 months in Lilywhite having delivered a number of incredible performances on the pitch so far, but it is clear he is determined to show even more.

He certainly showed just how much quality he holds at the start of this term as, during our opening run of seven games unbeaten, 'Deki' provided a goal and three assists. However, his bright start was derailed as, during the September international break, he picked up an injury which saw him sidelined for four weeks – a period which covered 10 matches.

Yet, when he returned to action earlier this month, he instantly picked up from where he left off and in incredible fashion, providing an assist just two minutes after coming off the bench in our 2-1 defeat to Liverpool before he then provided another, this time for the winner, in our 4-3 triumph over Leeds United last time out.

After that match, he appeared on N17 | The Review Show – an exclusive SPURSPLAY offering which brings you highlights, reaction and analysis of our Men’s First Team matches two hours after full-time – and discussed the frustrations of having been out injured before explaining his personal development plans for the World Cup break.

“I don’t think people understand how hard it is to be out - it’s so hard,” the 22-year-old said. “You want to help your team and make a difference, so I always try to do the little things right like sleep well, eat well so, when I am ready, I have to perform. I cannot look rusty, but I have felt very good in the last two games, so I am happy and I’m on the right road.

“Now, I have to rest for sure because this month, I was injured, but it was like I was playing every day because there was so much pressure on everyone coming back, for me included. So, I have to rest, get completely fit and then I would love to have time to work because now we have time to work on my weaknesses.”
