Kicker report this afternoon that Krzysztof Piątek (27) has been released from Hertha Berlin training to finalise a move to Serie A side Salernitana. Talks between both clubs and the player are very advanced.

This comes after Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Salernitana will sign Polish forward Piątek on loan, which will also include an option to buy. It’s long been known that Hertha would allow Piątek to leave before tomorrow’s deadline. FC Copenhagen had also shown an interest but are close to signing Andreas Cornelius instead.

Piątek, who joined from Milan in 2020, is Hertha’s second most expensive transfer in the club’s history following his €23m transfer – only Lucas Tousart (€25m) cost more.

The Poland international spent that last six months on loan at Italian side Fiorentina, where he scored six goals in 18 games. Instead of signing Piątek, Fiorentina instead opted to sign Luka Jovic from Real Madrid.

Piątek earned a reported salary of €4.5m at Hertha, and is under contract until 2025.
