Rade Krunic has stressed just how important it was for AC Milan to bounce back from the defeat against Torino by routing Red Bull Salzburg 4-0 to reach the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Milan came into the game against the Austrian champions knowing that a win would be enough to seal a spot in the last 16 of the competition, and they did so emphatically in the end, scoring four times including three in the second half.

The Rossoneri had Olivier Giroud to thank as he had a hand in all four goals including two of his own from deep inside the penalty area, and Krunic had the Frenchman to thank as he was set up for his first goal at San Siro by a header back across the box.

Krunic spoke to Prime Video after the game to reflect on the performance and his first ever home goal for Milan.

“I was not surprised at starting because the coach often chooses me in important games. Perhaps today we needed an extra midfielder in the middle of the pitch. We played a great match, we dominated. This victory gives us confidence after the bad match against Torino,” he said (via MilanNews).
