Chelsea will lock horns with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, hoping to pick up a win and avenge their 1-0 loss in the FA Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel will probably opt for the 3-4-3 formation with a few tweaks from the last game. Kai Havertz might get the nod over Hakim Ziyech, whereas Edouard Mendy looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.

Defence

Edouard Mendy will start in between the sticks for the upcoming home encounter. The Senegalese shot-stopper will hope to put up a strong performance and secure a clean sheet on Tuesday.

Thiago Silva is expected to start at the heart of Blues’ backline, whereas Kurt Zouma will replace Antonio Rudiger at the left centre-back spot. Cesar Azpilicueta will fill the right centre-back position.

However, their main objective will be to keep Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho quiet throughout the ninety minutes.

Midfield

Mateo Kovacic looks likely to make his return in midweek.

“Kova is with us again.” – Tuchel stated in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s huge. Mateo has everything we need in midfield. He has experience, power, acceleration, deceleration, he can dribble with the ball and beat players, he is fast and has physical ability.”

“It’s what we need in the key moments of the season at the end of the season. Its big news for us Kova is back. He has a huge impact in the dressing room also and is a very positive guy.”

As a result, Kovacic and N’Golo Kante might fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more central role. The pair would be looking to dominate the midfield proceedings.

Ben Chilwell might replace Marcos Alonso at the left wing-back position, whereas Reece James will fill in on the other flank as the right wing-back.

Attack

Mason Mount and Kai Havertz will slot into the attacking midfield roles. The duo would be determined to set up some clear cut goal-scoring chances for the front-men.

Timo Werner will lead the line for the Blues against Leicester City. The German international would be hoping to find the back of the net when he faces off against the Leicester defence that has kept just one clean sheet in their last five games across all competitions.

Christian Pulisic might come on to make a cameo appearance in the second forty-five minutes.
