Jules Kounde hammered home a stunning strike in extra time to hand Barcelona victory over Real Madrid in a thrilling Copa del Rey Clasico showdown in Seville.
With the score tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes and a penalty shootout looming, the Barcelona defender took aim from 22 yards and buried a low drive into the corner of the net.
Barça dominated the opening half, deservedly going in front through Pedri’s brilliant first-time finish from distance after a clever setup by Lamine Yamal.
Real Madrid looked much sharper after the break, especially following the introduction of Kylian Mbappe, who curled a superb free-kick — which he won himself — in off the post to level the match.
Aurelien Tchouameni then put Los Blancos ahead with a powerful header from Arda Guler’s corner delivery.
But Barça responded once again, as Ferran Torres latched onto a long ball from Yamal, rounded keeper Thibaut Courtois, and calmly slotted the ball home to equalise.
Hansi Flick's side thought they had a golden chance to win it late in regular time when a penalty was awarded for a challenge by Raul Asencio on Raphinha, but after a lengthy VAR review, the call was reversed.
The match headed into extra time, where Kounde’s fourth goal of the campaign proved decisive.
In a dramatic finale to a Clasico final filled with tension — and debate over officiating in the lead-up — Real defender Antonio Rudiger was shown a straight red card from the bench, the last major incident of the evening.
It marked the first Clasico final in a major competition since 2014, when Gareth Bale famously struck a late winner to seal a 2-1 triumph for Madrid.
