Liverpool’s dream of clinching the FA Cup this season ended following their 4-3 defeat against Manchester United in the quarter-final round. However, they are very much in the scheme of things for lifting the Premier League title.

The Reds are second in the points table with 64 points after 28 rounds of play. They will next host Brighton at Anfield in the domestic league on Sunday. Needless to say, they will be eyeing for all three points and take a step closer to the prestigious title.

Defence

Caoimhin Kelleher will be seen taking charge between the sticks once again. He has been a solid performer so far and would be hoping to make some good blocks to help his side collect three points.

A blow to Liverpool as reliable left-back Andy Robertson suffered an ankle injury on international duty and is unlikely to be available for the clash. Kostas Tsimikas should be the one taking his place.

Ibrahima Konate will also mark his return, replacing Jarell Quansah. The former is to be accompanied by Virgil van Dijk in the defence. Conor Bradley should start as the right-back after an impressive performance recently, meaning Joe Gomez gets the much-needed rest.

Midfield

The effective midfield trio of Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to continue. Curtis Jones might be available for selection but is unlikely to feature in the starting lineup. Harvey Elliott will probably be used in the second half despite his impressive display of performance on international duty.

Attack

Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez took off from international duty to recover fully from their recent injuries. Hence, they will be fresh to start the game alongside Luis Diaz, who will operate on the left flank.

Boss Jurgen Klopp will not have the services of Stefan Bajcetic, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Joel Matip and Thiago for this fixture.
