Sacha Tavolieri has been reporting over the transfer window that Kortrijk have been keen on bringing Samuel Bastien back to Belgium. The Burnley midfielder was pursued by the club on a rental basis, however Tavolieri has been reporting that the move seems off. Now it appears that Bastien himself would prefer a move to Saudi-Arabia over the relegation strugglers. There had been some hope that the DR Congo international may be moving to Kortrijk after it became clear that Burnley were set to acquire the club.

The 26-year-old only joined the Clarets last summer from Standard Liege. During his time in Liege, Bastien made 132 appearances for Standard, scoring 12 goals. He had previously had spells with Chievo Verona and Avellino, the latter during his time at Anderlecht. Despite being capped by Belgium at youth level, Bastien switched allegiances to the DRC in 2021. He has made seven caps for the central African nation. During his one season at Burnley, Bastien made 24 appearances and scored twice.
