Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Kortrijk want to bring Michiel Jonckheere as head coach for next season. The side, who were relegated from the Pro League this season, are looking for a new head coach after Bernd Storck left at the end of the season. Storck has since joined Cercle Brugge with a view to help them survive the relegation play-offs and remain in the Pro League. Jonckheere is currently part of the Club Brugge set up, where he works as an assistant to head coach Nicky Hayen.

Jonckheere only retired as a professional footballer back in 2022, while playing for Kortrijk. He spent two seasons with the side, playing 41 games. Prior to that he had spent almost a decade with KV Oostende, where he had also spent time as an assistant before moving to join Club Brugge in 2024. Initially, Jonckheere was coach of the U18 side but joined the senior set up when Nicky Hayen was promoted into the role of head coach. Club had been keen for him to become head coach of Club NXT, the sides second team that will play in the same tier as Kortrijk next season.
