Teun Koopmeiners has dropped out of the Netherlands squad and will return to Turin for further treatment after the Dutch federation revealed that the Bianconeri attacking midfielder has a minor injury concern.
The 26-year-old was selected in Ronald Koeman’s squad for Nations League fixtures against Hungary and Germany later this week, but did not train with his international colleagues on the first day of the training camp on Monday.
The Dutch federation have confirmed that he has been replaced by PSV’s Guus Til, who typically operates in a similar role to Koopmeiners.
“Teun Koopmeiners will not join Oranje’s training camp in Zeist today. The midfielder suffers complaints from an injury. Medical examination showed that the upcoming Nations League matches will be too early for him,” the Dutch national football team wrote in a statement.
There are still a handful of Serie A representatives in the Netherlands squad, including Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, plus Inter defenders Stefan De Vrij and Denzel Dumfries. Former Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is also involved.
