Now that Juventus have effectively agreed a deal with OGC Nice for Khephren Thuram, they are turning to Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, also wanted by Liverpool.

The Bianconeri are completely revamping their squad under new coach Thiago Motta, who has a vastly different tactical approach to predecessor Max Allegri.

Multiple sources are today confident a deal is done for Thuram at a cost of €20m including bonuses, so Sportitalia and Calciomercato.com note director Cristiano Giuntoli is now turning his attention towards Koopmeiners.

The opening offer of €40m plus €5m in add-ons was rejected, so Juve need to sell first in order to raise funds to increase that proposal.

Moise Kean will be sold to Fiorentina, while another player who could be sacrificed is Manuel Locatelli, especially after links with Olympique Marseille.

Douglas Luiz has already been drafted in from Aston Villa for €50m, while Adrien Rabiot’s contract has expired, so it is going to be a completely new midfield.

Juventus long game on Koopmeiners

Koopmeiners has been their target for many months and Juve remain the absolute favourites to sign him, even though Liverpool and to a degree Chelsea were also linked.

Atalanta have set a price-tag of at least €50m on the 26-year-old, who was forced to withdraw from the Netherlands squad at EURO 2024 due to injury.

On the way to winning the Europa League and reaching the Coppa Italia Final, Koopmeiners played 51 games for Atalanta this season, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists.
