Aston Villa will host Burnley at Villa Park in the Premier League on Thursday night, as they look to return to winning ways. The Villans remained grounded at 1-1 against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League fixture, in what seemed to be a frustrating draw.

Team News

Lucas Digne has returned to the starting XI and will look to feature again in the next encounter with the Clarets. Ezri Konsa is unlikely to feature in the upcoming home encounter having picked up a knee problem. Steven Gerard does not have any other concerns regarding injuries as they look to clinch the victory in the final pair of games in the Premier League this season.

Defence

Emiliano Martinez will start in goal for the upcoming home encounter. The Argentine shot-stopper would hope to put up a strong performance.

Ezri Konsa being sidelined would allow Calum Chambers to fill in at the centre back position, along with Tyrone Mings, to form the heart of the backline.

Lucas Digne starts at the left-back position and Matty Cash might fill in on the opposite flank as the right-back. They will look to stretch the opposition defence and create chances for the forwards.

Midfield

Douglas Luiz and John McGinn will be positioned in the wide areas of the midfield. Marvelous Nakamba will hold the central midfield position. The midfield trio will look to create opportunities for the front-men.

Jacob Ramsey could come off the bench in the second half, hoping to impact the game if needed.

Attack

Phillippe Coutinho will slot into the attacking midfield role in an advanced position looking to exploit the opposition’s backline.

Both Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings will take on most of the goal-scoring responsibility, they will be tasked to lead the line against Burnley.

Emi Buendia could come off the bench in the latter half to fancy his chances of finding the back of the net.
