Paris Saint-Germain returned to Ligue 1 Uber Eats action on Friday evening, but fell to defeat against an impressive OGC Nice side (2-3) at the Parc des Princes. It wasn't the ideal preparation for a hectic week of fixtures which will see PSG face Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday, before facing Marseille next weekend in Le Classique.
Despite the loss, the game saw the debut of France international Randal Kolo Muani for the rouge et bleu. The Frenchman was substituted on in the second half, and made an instant impact for Luis Enrique's side, by providing the assist for his fellow Bondy native Kylian Mbappé's acrobatic World Cup final-esque effort. Yet, it meant to little too late as PSG couldn't do enough to react to some Terem Moffi magic on the part of Niçois visitors.
"We played against a very strong OGC Nice team. They were one of the few teams that were unbeaten in the championship. They play good football and are compact," began Kolo Muani following the match, praising the style of play of Francesco Farioli's side. "However, we mustn't forget that we are a new team. There have been many changes, and we need to give ourselves some time to adapt."
When asked about what he thought went wrong for PSG, the forward explained "We needed more movement and faster circulation of the ball. I think we hesitated in moving the ball quickly. It's true that Nice were well organised, and we needed to stretch them out more."
Dortmund test looming for PSG
It will be a matter of days before PSG face Dortmund in the Champions League, but Kolo Muani believes PSG's squad can work well before playing the Bundesliga side at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday. "It's a good thing that it's coming up quickly. Since we know we need to be ready at the right time, I believe we will work well in the meantime. It will come very quickly. But I think the whole team will be ready for the upcoming matches."
