Kolo Muani makes debut, Lindström eliminated 

Randal Kolo Muani made his first World Cup appearance for group winners France, but Jesper Lindström and Denmark were knocked out.

Defending world champions France slipped to a 1-0 defeat in their third group game at the World Cup, but still went through to the last 16 as section winners. Eintracht striker Randal Kolo Muani made his tournament debut for Les Bleus and played the full 90 minutes. Jesper Lindström likewise played from start to finish for Denmark as they lost 1-0 to Australia following a goal on the counterattack by Mathew Leckie (61’). The result left the Danes bottom of the group with one point from three games, meaning they must now pack their bags for home.
