Köln shocked Borussia Dortmund to pick up their first win of the 2020/21 Bundesliga season with a 2-1 victory at the Westfalenstadion.
Scorers: Hazard 74; Skhiri 9′, 60′.
Jadon Sancho, fresh off scoring a wonderful free-kick in the win over Club Brugge in the Champions League in midweek, hit the bar with a curling effort before Köln took a shock lead.
Marius Wolf flicked on a corner into the path of Ellyes Skhiri who tapped in at the far post after losing his marker.
The visitors’ second goal was almost a carbon copy of the first with Wolf again flicking on for Skhiri to force home at the back post unmarked.
Lucien Favre’s side found a way back into the game through Thorgan Hazard, who placed the ball into the far corner after a well-worked move involving Gio Reyna and Erling Haaland.
Haaland missed Dortmund’s best chance of the game with the last kick of the game after failing to make contact with Marco Reus’ pull-back from three yards out.
However, BVB failed to break down a resilient Köln defence and have now fallen to third after their third defeat of the season.
