Regular choices under Bo Henriksen, Dominik Kohr and Danny da Costa followed the footsteps of reserve goalkeeper Daniel Batz by signing new deals at the carnival club. The news adds further motivation for Champions League hopefuls’ trip to Hoffenheim, which will see 10,000 Mainz faithful at the PreZero Arena.

Kohr previously had a contract until the end of 2026. The defensive midfielder will now stay at Mewa Arena for an additional two years. The former Bayer Leverkusen, FC Augsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt player is one of the leading figures at Mainz.

“Dominik (Kohr) is a guy who fully embodies Mainz 05,” said sporting director Niko Bungert. “He's currently in a really good phase, possibly the best of his career. We're really looking forward to seeing him in our jersey for years to come".

Kohr will return to the side in Hoffenheim after missing the last two games because of his red card against Freiburg. "I've felt incredibly comfortable here in Mainz from day one,” said the 31-year-old. “Mainz has always stood together against challenge, and it’s a perfect fit for me.”

Meanwhile, Danny da Costa also extends his expiring contract by one year. "I have the feeling that something is happening here," said the player after the news. “I really enjoy coming to training every day. In a little over three years, I’ve experienced lots of things. And, I'm very happy to be able to continue to contribute."

Da Costa, who played as a fullback before this season, is now a regular fixture in the middle of Henriksen’s back-three system. "Danny has shown what you can achieve by not giving up even after disappointments, and in a relatively new position. He proves every week what a good Bundesliga central defender he is." said Mainz’s long-time center-back Bungert.
