Koeman talks following Barcelona’s Clásico loss: “I don’t understand the referee..”

Ronald Koeman lost his first Clásico as Barcelona coach 1-3. The Dutch manager did not manage to get a win for 3 consecutive times in La Liga this season. This time, Koeman believes that the loss is on VAR.

“I don’t understand the referee’s decision regarding the penalty. VAR has never been in our favour. All the decisions are against us. Messi deserved a penalty against Sevilla, red cards weren’t given against Getafe, things today too…The decisions always against us.

“There was a push from Ramos on Lenglet. The penalty was incorrect. Yes, there was a pull from Lenglet, but not enough for Ramos to fall.”

Koeman seems truly frustrated with VAR today:

“If someone pulls your shirt from the front, you’re supposed to fall forwards not backwards. Hopefully, one day someone can explain to me how VAR works in Spain.”, he continued.

“We did not deserve to lose the game today.”

The Dutch manager added that they do not have to worry, despite their second loss this season.

“We lost two games, but we shouldn’t worry too much. We are working hard and it’s still early.”, Koeman added.

Eyes are already on Koeman’s coaching, however, as many fans believe that the loss is on his late substitutions. We will have to wait and see how his team will perform in the coming games, but one thing is clear: his first-impression at the Catalan club was different than what we have seen on the pitch today.
