Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman stunned waiting members of the press today at his pre-match media conference for Thursday's clash with Cadiz.

Instead of taking questions, Koeman read a prepared statement and then promptly left. The presser lasted just three minutes.

Koeman's statement in full reads:

"Hello everyone, the club is with me in a reconstruction situation. The economic situation of the club is linked to the athlete, and vice versa, this means that we have to rebuild a squad without being able to make big investments.

"Football needs time, young people who are starting out can be world stars in a couple of years. The positive side of this situation is that the youngsters can have their chance like Xavi and Iniesta had in their time. But that takes patience.

“In addition, to finish in the top places of the Liga table would be a success. Europe can be a good school for our young people. But we cannot expect miracles in the Champions League. The defeat against Bayern (0-3) must be put into perspective.

"The team must be supported, in word and deed. I know that the press supports this process, this is not the first time that this has happened in the history of FC Barcelona. We count on your support during these difficult times. We, players and staff, are very happy with the support we received during the match against Granada.

"Long live Barça."
