The away side got off to the best possible start as Jonas Hector got ahead of his man and headed in to level the aggregate score.

But unbelievably, just 30 seconds later, the hosts were level on the day and back in front on aggregate as Jae-sung Lee latched onto a loose ball in the area and headed home.

This astonishing game took another twist however, as Köln went straight up the other end and re-took the lead thanks to Sebastian Andersson.

And the big Swede got his second of the afternoon with 13 minutes on the clock, as he rose highest from a corner and once again used his sizeable frame to head past the goalkeeper.

Friedhelm Funkel’s men were truly in the ascendancy now and got their fourth of the day with 40 minutes gone as Rafael Czichos struck a piledriver into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Into the second half and the 2.Bundesliga team looked understandably supremely tired after being put into quarantine in both March and April.

And their exhausting schedule caught up with them with six minutes to go as Ellyes Skhiri rifled an effort into the top corner from the edge of the area.
