Manchester United have had so many talented youngsters come through their academy in the Premier League era.

In the present day, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson have all established themselves in the first-team after graduating through the academy.

United also possess talented youngsters including Shola Shoretire and Charlie McNeill.

The next star that could emerge from their esteemed academy is Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo, a centre midfielder, has technique and composure well beyond his years.

The youngster, who turns 17 years old on April 19, has been impressing as captain for United’s U17s in their 2022 Adidas Generation Cup campaign.

United were successful in a penalty shootout against LA Galaxy earlier this week and Mainoo’s spot-kick has been doing the rounds on social media.

LA Galaxy’s goalkeeper was doing everything he could to try and put Mainoo off, shouting: “Look at me! Look at me! LOOK. AT. ME! Let’s go! Let’s go!”

The mind games didn’t have an effect on Mainoo, though.

The talented youngster stepped up and managed to find the back of the net.

Mainoo then stood there and stared at the goalkeeper, who had his hands on his head in disbelief.

Now that’s what you call ice cold. He made the goalkeeper look silly.

A couple of other clips of Mainoo from the Generation Cup campaign have also been shared on social media.

He nearly scored from a tight angle after an outrageous bit of skill against Minnesota.

Late in the game against LA Galaxy, Mainoo showed great strength to hold off an opponent and then send another flying, before being taken down himself.

And in another moment against Minnesota, Mainoo showed brilliant feet in the middle of the park before sending a teammate clear with a beautiful clipped ball.

Mainoo looks like a real talent.

We could be seeing him feature for the first-team very soon.
