Kobbie Mainoo has claimed that he wants to still be at Manchester United in ten years and sees a very bright future for the club.

The 19 year old has been one of the few bright spots of a dark season and fans across the world will be delighted that he is so keen to stay at the club.

The Stockport native has enjoyed a meteoric rise, in which he has gone from FA Youth Cup winner in 2022 to being the most important cog in the heart of United’s midfield in under two years.

Pundits have waxed lyrical not only on the player’s quality but also his mentality. Former United man, Rio Ferdinand, has even claimed the player gives him “Seedorf vibes”.

As a result, United fans have worried that the seismic problems in the rest of the team would mean that they will lose their young starlets like Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, if they continue to underperform so badly on the pitch.

However, speaking to Sky Sports at his former Primary School, the now England international assured any fans worrying about his future that he firmly sees himself at United in the long-term future.

Commenting on his breakthrough season he claimed, “being my boyhood club and such, so to get the opportunity to play for them, that’s a big achievement for me and I hold it close to my heart.”

However, the midfielder was more focused on his future and he asserted, “I’m more looking forward. I think there are a lot of things to come. Yeah, that’s what I am mainly focused on.”

Mainoo was also quick to reassure fans that he sees himself a United player in the future when he was asked where he sees himself in the next ten years.

“That I keep improving and to be a part of something great at the next generation of United and hopefully go on to win many things for the club,” he said.

The 19 year old’s optimism probably comes from the sheer amount of young talent around the club at the moment. Delving into the matter he stated, “yeah, there’s definitely a lot of bright young talent coming through and still a lot to come through.”

“The future’s looking good for us, we just have to wait and our time will come.”

Mainoo also praised his under-fire manager, Erik ten Hag, for his role in his progression as a player. “He’s been a great help this season. He’s given me the chance to play and he has put faith in me. He’s always helping me along the way and giving me advice.”

United will be hoping that their young starlet can finish the season as strongly as he started it when breaking through over the winter and deliver the first trophy of the many that he plans to win at his boyhood club.
