Roy Keane blasts Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane for limp show against Chelsea

According to Daily Mail, Roy Keane did not hold back on his criticism of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane for his performance against Chelsea. The striker was rather anonymous through the game bar some moments which irked the Premier League legend.

Harry Kane had a tough summer and it does not look like it has ended. The striker might have returned to the Spurs lineup but has hardly looked like his old prolific self. He has already played four league games for Spurs but has failed to score in any of them which is a rather astonishing and concerning record.

The striker cut a forlorn figure in the London derby against Chelsea and apart from the odd shot, he never looked close to breaking his duck in the league. Spurs eventually lost the game and questions were asked of Kane because it was peculiar in the sense that he has already scored thrice in the last three qualifiers for England.

Given the anonymous showing from Kane, Premier League icon Roy Keane did not mince his words while speaking about Kane. He also felt that Kane was still reeling from a potential move to Manchester City not happening over the summer.

‘He scored against Poland – they’re no mugs. But for the closing down, he’s your top man. Knock someone open, shout at people! I never see him digging anyone out. There’s a bit of a hangover from the summer that would be my concern. Sprint at people, get hold of the ball! At 2-0 down, he tried this Roy of the Rovers move. It was never going to work.’

It’s a rather huge concern that Kane is not scoring like his usual self. Not to just put the blame on Kane, Spurs have been struggling as a whole as well. The side looks short of the initial gusto and confidence that they had at the start of the season and perhaps need their talisman to step up and steer them clear.
