Giving Lechia Gdańsk a 2-0 lead over Warta Poznań, Portuguese striker Flavio Paixao netted his the 100th goal of his Ekstraklasa career. In doing so he joins a list of 31 legends who have achieved such a feat.
Paixao’s second of the evening puts him level along with former Legia Warsaw and ŁKS Łódź striker Marek Saganowski, and ex-Cracovia, Pogoń Lwów and 1.FC Katowice man Karol Kossok, on 100 goals. The list is topped by Górnik Zabrze legend Ernest Pohl with 186 goals, and also features greats such as Włodzimierz Lubański, Ernest Wilimowski, Tomasz Frankowski and Paweł Brożek.
Meanwhile, Paixao’s 1st of the night had also put his name into the record books for another reason – his strike was Lechia Gdansk’s 1000th goal in the top flight.
Paixao also becomes the first foreign player to join the club, and the first new player to join the list since Marcin Robak in 2018. As well as the 76 goals he has scored at Lechia, he bagged 24 whilst at Śląsk Wrocław.
