Ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Wolves on Saturday, manager Jürgen Klopp addressed the media.

Here is everything he had to say.

On facing Wolves and Raúl Jiménez

“Wolves had a clear way of playing and [Bruno] Lage changed it in a good direction. A real football side with a good idea. Similar system defending, everyone is involved.

“When we had a closer look at [Diogo] Jota, the running numbers were incredible, so the offensive players do the same.

“They have a proper midfield, Raúl Jiménez up front, and I am really happy he overcome the misery of the awful [skull fracture]. Hopefully he will score lots of goals, apart from Saturday.

“They’re a really good team. They don’t concede shots on goal. We need to be creative.”

On squad updates

“It was really nice to see [Joe Gomez and Naby Keïta] in training, they looked brilliant.

“They will use the next two days and do what they have to do. If nothing happens they should be in contention again.”

On ‘selfish’ Mohamed Salah claims

“Salah was never criticised for being too selfish by us. What helps a lot is experience so you know what to do in situations and areas of the pitch.

“What helps is Mo has the experience, not lost the greed to score but developed technically. He sees others in better areas.”

On tough winter schedule

“December will always be crazy. Everything is fine until you reach Christmas.

“Playing on the 26/28th is still not right. We accept that, we play, it’s tradition but it’s really tough.

“January is not better and the more successful we are in cups, it’s the same. So it is a difficult two months ahead.

“Players’ welfare is important but we’re used to a tough schedule. I don’t think we need to make too many changes at the start of December.

“Maybe the middle or the end but it’s about constant conversations with the fitness and medical department. We use all our data for the lineup.”

On Diogo Jota

“Diogo is an incredible package. Personality, really smart, organised, structured in a nice way.

“His career…I remember when I saw him first time I thought he’d be a player for me.

“He’s so intense in all situations, technically on a great level. Incredible quality.”

On new goalkeeping coach Cláudio Taffarel

“We’ve had this idea for a while to work with our talented keepers. An outstanding bunch of players there.

“We wanted a real solution for these boys and want to create our own Goalkeeper philosophy.

“He was a world-class player. We spoke to Alisson and he was quite pleased about it. He’s known him for some years so here we go. It’s exciting. A brilliant guy.”

On the title race

“Is it a title race already? I don’t know.

“It’s a very good, highest-quality league. Unbelievable. It’s our target but you cannot win it in December or January. You can lose it.

“We have to be up there and make sure we’re one goal better in all games. It’s exciting.

“I don’t even know when [our rivals] play. Maybe in March and April, but there are lot of games to play before that, so we focus on the next one.”
