Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Watford on Saturday.
Here’s what he had to say.
“The problem is when I answer it sounds like I’m frustrated. I’m not.
“We have no chance, obviously. Brazil played last night, it’s not in our hands.
“You have a big squad but not for FA decisions. Atletico don’t play weekend, that’d never happen here!
“The decision is the boys will go directly to Madrid and wait for us. Come slightly later back than us and come back in normal procedure.”
“I was waiting for some official statement from (Richard) Masters or someone.
“There are concerns over human rights issues, that’s clear. Still, that’s the situation. What will it mean for football?
Few months ago we have massive arguments over Super League, rightly so. But this is creating a super team if you like.
“With how FFP is used where no-one knows if it exists, it’s like it is. Newcastle fans will love it. Another superpower.
“It’s much more about money, it’s about good decisions.
“I am not concerned, I just described the situation. In Champions League in 2019 when we won, there were two countries involved.
“We can win games even when financial power is greater than yours. You know all this already.”
“Curtis Jones came back from England U21s injured, which is not good.
“It’s hard to get in touch with them. They played Andorra, great, important he played there, come back injured, not available for tomorrow.
“When the FAs don’t help us…they have to think about the game and not just their own interests. I am here six years and it is always this. Why don’t we talk about it?”
“Congrats to Claudio, he’s 69 now. He looks younger than me!
“He has a good genetic basis and all the personal decisions. He has had more than 15 clubs, maybe? More than I’ll ever have.”
