Liverpool face Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup this weekend, just one week after their pretty dire 0-0 at Anfield in the Premier League.
Since then, the Reds have ended their 68-match unbeaten run at home after losing 1-0 to Burnley on Thursday evening.
Here’s what Jürgen Klopp had to say to the press ahead of this weekend’s clash.
“We go again. No doubt about that. I said what I thought after the game. When things don’t work out as we want them to then there’s an issue. The issue is that I didn’t tell the boys things clearly enough. I have to change the way I tell the boys (these things).
“Confidence isn’t a natural thing. Some things have to work out for us to build confidence. But it’s not like we can’t find it again – we have to work. I don’t have five million different words for the same issue, but we didn’t get the results we wanted for a few weeks now.”
“We want to win the game, that’s clear. The game will be decided on the night. That’s how we will make the line-up.”
“When you don’t like a situation, you have to change the right things. I like to say and see that in each match there is a chance. I spoke to my players last night and will do again today, it’s not for a press conference what I will say to them.”
“Of course somebody else is making decisions! It’s always been like that! We discuss pretty much on a daily basis, I make recommendations but I cannot spend the money. That’s not how it is. I don’t make those decisions and I never did.
“I don’t want to confuse anyone. I just said what I said. Hopefully we can clarify it now.”
