Jurgen Klopp has discussed the Premier League’s ‘exciting’ title race and the difficulties of navigating English football’s ‘crazy’ festive schedule.

Liverpool face Wolves in the Premier League this weekend, the Reds currently third in the division after a Merseyside derby thrashing of Everton in midweek.

Just two points currently separate Liverpool from league leaders Chelsea, with defending champions Manchester City sandwiched between the duo in what is shaping as the most exciting title race in recent campaigns.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to Molineux, Klopp spoke on the standards required to remain in the title race and hailed the ‘unbelievable’ quality of the Premier League at present.

“It’s a very, very good, highest quality league. It’s unbelievable how good you have to win a single game in this league,” said the Liverpool manager at his pre-match press conference.

“You cannot win the league in November and December but you can lose it maybe.

“I can’t see it already at the moment as a title race but it is exciting obviously.

“It’s not like I’m watching Manchester City or Chelsea thinking I hope that they lose. There are a lot of games to play – let’s focus now on the next one.”

The trip to Wolves begins a gruelling December schedule for Liverpool, who face nine games in just 28 days – including the conclusion of the Champions League’s group stages and a Carabao Cup quarter-final with Leicester – before the turn of the new year.

Klopp admits the festive schedule in England is ‘crazy’, insisting it will be tough for his side to navigate a testing run of fixtures throughout the month.

“We are used to the tough schedule. We have to see how it will be by the middle or end of December but it is a constant conversation.

“It’s crazy. It was always crazy and it will always be crazy. Everything is fine until you reach that Christmas time. It is tradition, I get all that, but it is really tough at the end of December.”
