Klopp confirms Salah set to rejoin Liverpool training after returning negative test result | OneFootball

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah is set to rejoin Liverpool training today after returning a negative test for coronavirus.

Salah was ruled out of Liverpool‘s 3-0 victory over Leicester on Sunday evening after testing positive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty with Egypt earlier this month, though has now recorded a negative test and will be free to rejoin training.

The 28-year-old will undergo further testing but could now be available for Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Atalanta at Anfield, where victory will book the Reds’ place in the knockout stages with two games to spare.

Salah has been in fine form for Liverpool so far this season and has scored 10 goals in just 12 appearances in all competitions, with Klopp confirming the forward’s return to training following his negative test.

“I heard this (that Salah was negative),” Klopp said at his post-match press conference.

“Tomorrow (Monday) we have UEFA testing, he will be in that, he can now train with us.

“There are two tests scheduled in the next two days so he will be tested like all of us.”

Liverpool’s victory over Leicester moved the champions level on points with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League, a Jonny Evans own goal opening the scoring before further strikes from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino.

Klopp’s side welcome Italian side Atalanta to Merseyside in mid-week, before facing Brighton at the Amex Stadium in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, though the German was less than impressed at the fixture scheduling.
