Chivas manager Víctor Manuel Vucetich expressed satisfaction with his side’s win over Tijuana on Saturday.
In what was a must-win game for the Flock, second-half goals from Alexis Vega and Jesús Ricardo Angulo saw them past the challenge of the 10-man Xolos.
It was only the third victory in 15 games of the Guard1anes 2021 season for Chivas, and it was the first time they hadn’t conceded.
“I am happy with the result, we worked well to obtain this score, we could have scored more goals, but it is a factor that we have not been given this season; the fact of keeping a clean sheet is part of that work,” Vucetich told a post-match press conference.
“We have always tried to start this way (to go on the attack). We have done it in several games, but we made mistakes. Today we were persistent, and we knew how to capitalise on the second half. We must continue to improve.”
Los Rojiblancos face a crucial few days as they prepare to face Monterrey on Wednesday, before taking on Guadalajara neighbours Atlas in a Clásico Tapatío next Saturday.
“These matches will be vital and we have the illusion of being in the play-offs. For that, we will seek the results that allow us that possibility,” Vucetich added.
Chivas currently lie 13th in the table, just one place and one point outside the top 12 Liguilla spots.
