Víctor Manuel Vucetich has praised the steady improvement of his Chivas side in the wake of their Clásico Tapatío victory over Atlas on Saturday.
The three points, courtesy of a late winner by Ángel Zaldívar, helped the Flock move up to eighth in the Guard1anes 2021 table.
It also gave Los Rojiblancos control over their own Liguilla destiny, after it had looked for a long time like they may miss out on the play-offs altogether.
“Atlas has had a good campaign, but simply and simply we are recovering the memory of the last tournament,” Chivas manager Vucetich told reporters after the game at the Estadio Jalisco.
“In the current one, we had not done it in the best way and we had that debt.
“We are looking within the bad start to be able to close in the best way, very worthily to give that joy to our people.
“Our objectives remain intact. We will seek that place in the Reclassification and we will try to close with another win against Tigres to continue climbing positions in the table.”
Chivas will close out their regular season campaign by hosting Tigres next Saturday.
Vucetich’s men could be assured of their play-off place by Monday, if results in the rest of the Week 16 games go their way.
