“It was different,” Kieran Trippier says when describing winning the first trophy of his career.

Harry Kane would probably say something similar since he’s been locked inside the London Stadium, with Daniel Levy doing everything he can to throw away the key, but at least Trippier got out of Tottenham before winning La Liga with Atletico Madrid.

The England full-back has been speaking to English media ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the Wanda Metropolitano and he admitted he would love to play in the Premier League again, amid interest from Manchester United last summer.

United still enjoyed a summer of big signings despite not addressing one of their biggest problems in midfield. Another area Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to strengthen was right-back to give Aaron Wan-Bissaka some serious competition.

Trippier appeared to be the top target but Stretty News understands United were not willing to meet Atletico Madrid’s asking price.

The Manchester Evening News ran a report at the time claiming Trippier had arranged for his family to relocate to England.

Now Trippier has confirmed that his wish is to return to the Premier League before hanging up his boots.

“I came here to try to achieve great things and I’d won the league,” Trippier told the Daily Mail. “I just tried to take it all in.

“I would love to play in the Premier League again.”
