Just 10 minutes into Celtic’s must-win Europa League match against Red Bull Leipzig, Kieran Tierney smashed a ball from James Forrest into the back of the net.
The goal gave the Scottish champions the momentum they needed, as they held on for a famous 2-1 win on Thursday night.
After the match, Tierney rated the goal as the best of his career.
“Jamesie (Forrest) cut a lovely ball back and it came all the way through to me,” he said. “All I was thinking was ‘touch and shoot’.
“I hit it as hard as I could and hoped for the best. Luckily for me, it went in – even though the keeper got a touch.
“To score at that end was amazing. Everyone knew where I was running. It was a brilliant way to celebrate but you can’t get too carried away as the game is back on.
“I scored at the same end against Man City but we didn’t win that night, so I was gutted. To get a goal in a win makes it even sweeter.
“The biggest plus was the way we reacted to the Leipzig equaliser. In the past, we’ve crumbled when we conceded. This time, we went forward, put pressure on them and got the winner.
“It was great play from Scott Sinclair and Ryan Christie, and a great finish from Odsonne [Edouard].
“That was a big goal and a big win for us. It was a big step forward. We always say we’ll try to learn from mistakes and we did that.
“We could have crumbled. They’re a good team and they would have got confidence from that goal.
“They wanted another one, they weren’t sitting back for a draw. The way we reacted was brilliant, in the past we might not have done that.
“It’s not easy in Europe against anyone. That felt like a Champions League night against one of the biggest and best sides in Germany.
“It was a great night but we need to now focus on the next few games.
“I’d personally like to thank every fan because the atmosphere they create is brilliant, results like tonight would not happen without them.”
Even though Celtic are now level on points with the Germans in Group G, Tierney confessed that he believes they are still favoured to advance.
“Leipzig are probably still the favourites because of the head-to-head (after Leipzig won the game in Germany 2-0 two weeks prior).
“But we have given ourselves a chance and what more can we ask for?
“Rosenborg away now is another big game for us, a massive game, to look forward to.
“They are a tough team, it won’t be easy at all, it was 0-0 the last time we went in the (Champions League) qualifiers. We know it will be hard.
“Our form has turned around and it was always going to happen. It was always going to click.
“We were in a sticky patch but we haven’t changed anything from day one.
“When we went through it we knew we were going to come out of it and in the last few weeks we’ve done it.”
