Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that his focus is on remaining at Portman Road right now, speaking to The Sun.

The Northern Irishman has been linked with a number of jobs in recent months, which comes as no real surprise considering how well he has done at Portman Road.

Manchester United, a club he previously coached at, are one club that are thought to be keen on him amid Erik ten Hag's struggles at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag remains in his job at this point, but there has been plenty of speculation about his future.

There has also been speculation about Roberto De Zerbi's future at Brighton and Hove Albion - and McKenna has been linked with the top job at the Amex Stadium.

In the same report from The Sun, the Seagulls' arch-rivals Crystal Palace were another team that were believed to be keeping an eye on him, but they went on to appoint Oliver Glasner instead.

That could mean that there's a tug-of-war between the Red Devils and the Seagulls for McKenna's signature, but it remains to be seen what will happen.

Not only are the remaining games of the campaign important for the two Premier League sides, but they are also vital for Ipswich, who currently sit in the top two and are aiming to secure back-to-back promotions.

They face a tough task as they battle the likes of Leeds United and Leicester City for a top-two finish, but the latter slipped up again last night as they fell to a 1-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

Ahead of Ipswich's home clash against Middlesbrough today, that is a big boost for McKenna's side.

Kieran McKenna on Ipswich Town future

It would be easy for McKenna to have his head turned, considering the calibre of teams that have been linked.

But he is firmly focused on his current team, telling The Sun: "It was a big commitment to come to this football club and I came because it was a club with a lot of potential and history is a big part of that potential as well.

"I knew there would be good support around myself to develop the team and try and develop a football team that has had great history but wasn't where they wanted to be - and try to bring that club to better times, over a longer period of time.

"So we're still in that process, I'm enjoying that process, we're enjoying the work day-to-day and certainly enjoying the last couple of seasons on the pitch as well. So my full focus is continuing to do that and continuing to try and help improve the team and develop the football club."

Kieran McKenna's commitment to Ipswich Town is admirable but understandable

McKenna has done a brilliant job at Ipswich and deserves to be linked with moves to other clubs.

However, focusing on his current team and not being distracted by links to other teams has probably played a big part in his current side's success.

And at this stage, no approaches have been reported, so there was no point in him focusing too much on speculation and outside noise.

Also, he looks as though he's thoroughly enjoying his time at Portman Road, so it would be a shame for him if he left anytime soon.

Last-minute winners this season have reinforced just how much of a privilege it is for him to be involved in this project, even though he has played a massive part in it.
