Among the players considered "dead weight" on the FSV Mainz 05 roster, Austrian striker Karim Onisiwo is reportedly headed back to his home country in the current January transfer window. Germany's Kicker Magazine reports that the 32-year-old will reunite with former Mainz sporting director Rouven Schröder at RB Salzburg.

Now in his tenth season with the Rheinhessen, Onisiwo racked up 33 top flight goals in 214 appearances for his current club. Even if the production numbers weren't especially striking, the 24-times-capped ÖFB international enjoyed excellent status at his long-term club.

Sitting behind Jonathan Burkardt and Armindo Sieb on the depth chart, Onisiwo nevertheless didn't feature much this season. After starting against Union Berlin on opening day, only seven relief appearances followed.
