Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that a number of key Manchester United players will be absent when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Norwegian said: “No chance [of Pogba or Lingard being fit]. David needs a scan, I think he’ll be out.

“Hopefully Aaron and Anthony will last the training this week and be available for selection. If it’s for half a game or 30 minutes I don’t know but let’s see where they’re at.”

United are struggling with injuries and will certainly not be at their best when the Reds travel this weekend but even then, there is no guarantee that the Red Devils will be there for the taking.

With Pogba and De Gea set to miss the clash, United will be weak in key areas but should have Wan Bissaka fit to play.

Jurgen Klopp needs to have his Liverpool players play with more confidence and aggression than they did at Old Trafford last season when Solskjaer’s side was also struggling with numerous injuries.

Predicted United XI: Romero, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, Wan Bissaka, McTominay, Pereira, Pogba, Mata, James, Rashford.
