Lionel Messi’s goal-scoring woes continued during Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 home fixture against Troyes on matchday 35.

Messi earned a start in the contest as a central attacking midfielder in PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino’s 4-2-3-1 setup. The Argentine forward went on to record one shot on target and also hit the woodwork twice.

Overall, Messi has hit the woodwork a total of 10 times in Ligue 1 so far this season, which is the most such shots recorded by any player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

More so, no other player has hit the post more times in the same top-flight season than Messi since Opta began to collect this data back in the 2006-2007 campaign.

Messi still sits at four goals scored in Ligue 1 play this season, with his last goal scored coming in the 1-1 draw result against RC Lens last month.

PSG is set to face off against Montpellier for its final away league fixture of the ongoing campaign.
