Barcelona are set to lose one of their promising young defenders, Eman Kospo. Although the deal is not yet officially announced, it is almost certain that the 18-year-old will move to Fiorentina in the coming days.

The Italian side has been monitoring Kospo for months and will now sign him for a fee of less than €1 million.

According to reports, the deal will also include a sell-on clause, allowing Barça to earn between 15% and 20% of any future transfer involving Kospo.

The young defender played 12 matches for Barcelona’s Under-19 team during the 2024-25 season, including three appearances in the UEFA Youth League.

Many fans and experts saw him as a player with great potential, so it came as a surprise when the club decided to let him go.

What pushed Kospo towards exit

One of the main reasons behind Kospo’s departure is related to Barcelona’s new head coach, Hansi Flick.

According to a report from SPORT, Kospo was expecting to be called up to train with the first team during pre-season.

However, that call never came. This left the player and his representatives feeling disappointed and forced them to look at other options.

Was not ready to settle

Kospo was not ready to spend another season in Barcelona’s reserve team, especially in Spain’s fourth division. On the other hand, Fiorentina have promised him a role with their senior team in Serie A, making the decision easier for the Swiss defender.

Another factor was personal. Kospo has been living in Barcelona without his parents, and moving to Florence offers him a fresh start both on and off the pitch.

Barcelona will now lose a defender with huge potential, while Fiorentina get a bargain deal at just around €500,000.
