While international action has caught everyone’s attention for the last few weeks, Real Madrid continue to prepare for their upcoming fixture against Athletic Bilbao and, even more importantly, for the 1st leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

However, as many as 14 Real Madrid players were with their respective national squads, and Carlo Ancelotti took the opportunity to train a handful of first-team players and called up Castilla players as well.

Eder Militao, Lucas Vazquez, Dani Ceballos, and Ferland Mendy, to name a few, were prominent individuals in the training sessions.

According to Mundo Deportivo, eyes were fixated mainly on Militao, as the Brazilian center-back speeds up his return and hopes to make it to the squad for the La Liga fixture against Atheltic Bilbao on 31st March.

It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian will be in contention to start against Manchester City in the Champions League with recent reports stating that he may not start this fixture.

Lucas Vazquez and Mendy were involved in the second session of the week, where the Italian manager had to call up some of the Castilla players as well. Most of the internationals also returned to train under Ancelotti.

Eduardo Camavinga was the only player during the break who had an injury scare as he was replaced by Matteo Guendouzi for France in the 44th minute in a friendly against Chile, which ended in a 3-2 win for the French side.

However, hopes are high that the injury was only a minor one, and the club hopes the French midfielder will be named in the squad against Athletic Bilbao.

After this La Liga fixture, Carlo Ancelotti would want to have the entire squad at his disposal for arguably the most important game of the season against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu.
