Queens Park Rangers head coach Neil Critchley has confirmed that a bid has been rejected for centre-forward Lyndon Dykes, with the offer from Millwall falling short of the club’s valuation.
As first reported by the Daily Mail on Friday morning, the Lions have looked across the River Thames to West London in a bid to bolster their strike-force this month.
And a package totalling £3 million, which would be a club-record purchase for Millwall, has been turned down by the Hoops, who want to keep Dykes at Loftus Road unless their valuation is met.
It is not just Gary Rowett’s side who are interested in the Scotland international though, with fellow Championship rivals Stoke City and Burnley also keen on the 27-year-old.

Real Fake
Since arriving at the R’s from Scottish outfit Livingston in 2020, Dykes has scored 26 goals in 102 Championship appearances, with six of those strikes coming this season.
With 18 months left on Dykes’ contract though, QPR are running out of time to cash in on the striker if they cannot agree a new deal.
The Verdict
Even though Dykes isn’t the most prolific forward to grace the Championship, he brings more than goals to the table.
His physical presence tends to occupy multiple defenders, allowing his team-mates to have a lot more space on the ball in dangerous positions.
He can of course score, but he is often wasteful in-front of goal, and at the age of 27 you don’t expect him to get any more prolific than he already has been.
Millwall need a focal point up top that is different to Tom Bradshaw and you couldn’t get much more different than Dykes, but the Lions probably lack the financial clout to get a deal over the line here.
