Hansi Flick’s Barcelona has managed to prove that a strong start to the season does not mean much in the long run. While the Catalan giants were initially enjoying a great run of form this season, they have now started to struggle. Over the course of the last three league games, Barcelona have picked up just one point.
These frustrating displays have now left the Catalan giants in a vulnerable position in the league and they could soon be overtaken by arch-rivals Real Madrid. However, it seems like things could get even worse for La Blaugrana moving forward.
Against Las Palmas, in their most recent defeat, Spanish star Dani Olmo had to watch on from the bench as his team succumbed to their visiting opponents. This was mainly due to a certain discomfort that the player was dealing with, but it could end up having further consequences.
According to the information provided by Mundo Deportivo, Olmo trained separately from his other teammates in the latest session and now seems to be doubtful for the upcoming game against Mallorca. Due to the discomfort he already has, the club is trying to ensure that he does not aggravate it.
Ultimately, Olmo’s presence is something that has proven to be quite impactful for Barcelona this season so far. He was the club’s big signing in the summer and he has not let down the club or his coaches this season as his displays have almost always given Barça hope.
Unfortunately, his injury issues continue to plague him and his availability is not always a guarantee. Against Mallorca, however, Hansi Flick will be hoping that he can count on his midfielder to play his natural position behind the striker and help the team recover from their slump.
In other news, a player who did end up completing the training session with the rest of the players was Ronald Araujo. After a long-term injury, the Uruguayan defender seems to be quite close to making a full return and it would undoubtedly be a massive boost for Barcelona both in terms of quality and confidence.
