The goalkeeper has committed his long-term future to Eintracht by signing a contract until 2026.

Kevin Trapp is set to remain an Eintracht Frankfurt player for the foreseeable future after the 32-year-old vice-captain, whose previous deal was due to expire on 30 June 2024, signed an early two-year contract extension with the club. His new contract includes an option to extend by a further year.

Trapp first joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2012 and was instrumental in helping the Eagles qualify for the UEFA Europa League in his first season at the club. After three successful years in Frankfurt, Trapp joined French champions Paris Saint-Germain before returning to Eintracht for the 2018/19 campaign, initially on loan. After reaching the Europe League semi-finals in a memorable campaign, Trapp signed a long-term deal with the Eagles.

Trapp has followed a similar trajectory as Eintracht in recent years, with the goalkeeper playing a major role in the club’s recent success – including victory in the 2021/22 UEFA Europa League final.

The German international has made 282 appearances for Eintracht to date, more than any other goalkeeper for the club apart from Oka Nikolov, who turned out 415 times for the Eagles.

Eintracht board member for sport Markus Krösche said: “Kevin Trapp is an absolute role model and represents the club like hardly any other player. His outstanding goalkeeping and personality make him an indispensable part of our team and our club. It was always important to us to extend our contract with Kevin for the long term and also provide him with opportunities once his playing career is over. It’s important for the club to keep hold of role models for a long time and to pass on their awareness of Eintracht’s special characteristics to future generations of players within the team. In my view, we now have the strongest German goalkeeper between the sticks on a long-term deal. That makes us proud.”

Kevin Trapp: “Everyone knows how much this club means to me and that I feel at home in Frankfurt. I’m happy that I’ll continue to be a part of the Eintracht family. We’ve already been through a lot together and still have more to come. The club’s ambitions are 100% the same as mine and I’m eager to continue giving my all for Eintracht Frankfurt.”
